SEO stand for Search Engine Optimisation. It is an approach for making a website relevant on search engines such Google, Yahoo and Bing in order to attract search visitor to your business website.
Basically there are two types of SEO namely On-site SEO & Paid SEO.
On-site SEO is integrating SEO into your website content and structure while Paid is promotion your content/campaign using SEO platforms like Adword, Yoast SEO etc.

- Use the a concise page title with your target keyword
The page title is one the most important places for your target keyword. Website’s page title is the first thing Search Engine sees when it reads your web pages. It describes what a website about and services. Your page title should be catchy and be able draw the attention search users.
e.g. let’s say your business offer Days care services to kids. Your page could “Day Care Services in Lekki Lagos”. This title let’s search users immediately know what your website offers.
- Meta Description
Your Meta description can be a short description about products & services. A Meta description is used by search engine to judge what the page is about but and should entice search users to visit your website.
- Using your keyword Heading.
Using the right heading helps reader understand website content structure. It helps reader to be able to navigate through different sections of your website content. Also it is advisable to include your target keyword to your content heading. There are 6 heading (h1, h2…h6). However (h1) is the most important and are usually used for your page’s title. You should the right heading where necessary.
- Image name
Naming your website images is one of best SEO practices. Naming images help search engine understand what an image is all about. Your image name should be descriptive. Let’s say image is a “iPhone X” your image should be ( iPhone X) and not DSC0100 or image000023.
- Make your Website Mobile Responsive.
With the increasing high of mobile users, your website needs to be adaptive to any device (both laptop and mobile phones). With mobile search continuing to grow and search like Google favoring mobile-friendly Sites and static website. Website visitor tends to leave a website that is not responsive to their device and you will loosing website visitors if your website is not responsive.
- Promote your website
With the application of the above listed practices, your website should be search engine friendly but the truth is that you need to promote your website for better performance. Google Adword is a considered option here. Also you should be active on social media and also promotion your social media pages.
